WINONA STATE ATHLETICS SPRING BREAK: FRIDAY, MARCH 14

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State Athletics spring break: Friday, March 14.
 
GOLF
The Winona State women's golf team sits in fourth overall after day one of the Warrior Vegas Invitational. Megan Young and Ellie Behring led WSU as they shot nine-over par to both be in the top 10 individually. Maeve McDougal sits one stroke back at +10 and Kelby Anderson is +11 after day one.
 
The Warrior men's golf team is in first after the opening round of the Warrior Vegas Invitational. Peyton Coahran led the Warriors and sits in second individually after carding a 69 (-1). Luke Maas shot an even-par 70 and is in third. Winona State will look to hold up their four stroke lead as the event wraps up tomorrow.
 
TENNIS
BU (7) – WSU (0): (Match from March 13)
Winona State was dealt a hard-fought loss to NCAA Division I Byrant University. WSU earned a win at No. 1 doubles and Skylar Gary and Lainy Ristau won 6-4. Bryant picked up the doubles point by winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
 
Elysia Beynon battled to three sets at No. 6 singles, losing 10-7 in the third set super tiebreaker. Ristau lost a close one at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 7-6.
 
STA (7) – WSU (0):
Skylar Gary and Kate Velander earned the win at No. 2 doubles, picking up the tiebreaker 7-2. St. Thomas Aquinas grabbed the doubles point after winning No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
 
The Warriors fought tough in singles as Elysia Beynon grabbed five games in the first set and Lainy Ristau and Clara Thoemke each earned three games in their first sets.
