WINONA, Minn. – Winona State women's tennis lost to Fort Hays State 5-2 in their final nonconference match of the season.
Winona State was swept in close doubles matches. No. 1 and No. 2 doubles lost 6-4 while
Clara Thoemke and
Ally Burger fought to a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles but lost 7-6 (7-5).
Skylar Gary picked up a 6-0, 6-0 dominating victory at No. 1 singles.
Lainy Ristau lost in straight sets at No. 2 singles.
Nikita Agrawal fought hard in her match at No. 3 singles but lost 1-6, 4-6. Thoemke earned a close win at No. 4 singles. Thoemke won the first set 6-4, then dropped the second set 7-5, but bounced back to earn a 10-5 super tiebreaker victory.
Alexandra Madjun and
Halle Rosentreter were unable to come out on top in close matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Warriors will be back in action this weekend as they travel to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth for NSIC matches.
