ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Winona State University women's tennis team traveled to St. Cloud State University to begin their NSIC weekend defeating the Huskies 4-3 in a closely another closely contested match. The Warriors defeated SCSU earlier this season, completing the series sweep against them this year.
Doubles Action:
Winona State won the No. 1 doubles with
Halle Rosentreter and
Lainy Ristau earn a 6-2 victory over the Huskies. In the No. 2 spot
Alexandra Madjun and
Miranda Daulong fought hard and dropped their contest against SCSU. Fighting for the point in the No. 3 doubles spot the Warriors would drop a hard fought match 6-4 with St. Cloud State taking the doubles point.
Singles Action:
Moving into singles play
Lainy Ristau would continue to play well earning a win 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot. St. Cloud State responded with a win at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots over the Warriors to claim three points only needing one more for the victory. Winona State would not back down with
Elysia Beynon earning a win at the No. 4 singles 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Following that up
Alexandra Madjun would take her match handily at 6-3, 6-2 against the Huskies. Lastly, freshman
Nikita Agrawal earned the Warriors final point for the victory in closely contested fashion winning 6-4, 7-5 to round out the Warriors evening.
Winona State women's tennis is next in action on Saturday, March 22 against the University of Minnesota Duluth on the road in Duluth, Minn. at 11:30am to round out their NSIC weekend.
