IZZY HOWE NAMED NSIC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Winona State softball's Izzy Howe earned NSIC Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 and picking up a save this weekend.
 
Howe, a junior from St. Charles, Ill., collected 25 strikeouts in 16.1 innings pitched across four appearances. Throughout the week, Howe held a 0.56 ERA with a WHIP of .93 and an opponents batting average of just .145.
 
In game one versus Wayne State, Howe entered the circle in relief and pitched the final two innings without allowing to earn the win. Howe then started game two and went 5.1 innings to pick up a win. On Saturday, Howe picked up a save by pitching the final two innings in game one versus Sioux Falls, then backed it up with a complete-game shutout in game two.
 
This is the second time Howe has earned the NSIC Pitcher of the Week honor this season. The Warriors finished the regular season with a 40-13 record and went 21-7 in the NSIC to tie for second place. WSU will open the NSIC Tournament against Concordia-St. Paul on May 1 at 5:30pm.
