WINONA, Minn. – Winona State men's golf continues their early 2025-26 season successes with a commanding 14-stroke victory while also securing the number one and number two scores at the invitational.
Winona State dominated the Jewel Invitational from start to finish ending day one with a three-stroke lead (-12) ahead of Bemidji State (-9). In round two, there was no looking back for the Warriors as they ironed out the competition with a score of 18 under par as a team, more than doubling the second-best team, Minnesota State-Mankato (-8). WSU finished with a team final score of thirty under par.
Peyton Coahran was creating havoc for opposing teams with a first-round score of 69 (-3). During round two there was no slowing down for the NSIC Preseason player to watch as he shot an invitational best 66 (-6) allowing him to finish nine under par overall.
Luke Maas trailed his fellow Warrior teammate by just one stroke at the end of round two with a score of 136 (-8) and tallied a pair of eagles on the eighth hole in both round one and round two.
Javier Ramos Casariego and
Tyler Gandrud both were tied for fifth at the invitational over with scores of 138 (-6). Casariego also eagled hole nine, a par five, during round two and Gandrud birdied hole 6, a par four, during round one.
Logan Chouinard and
Diego Olano both started off slow in round one with a score of 79 (+7) and 73 (+1), respectively, but finished strong in round two with a score card of 70 (-2) and 68 (-4).
Max Jericho competed independently and finished with a score of 141 (-3).
The Warriors will be back in action for the Skip Wagon Invitational in Edmond, Okla. On October 6th and October 7th.
