BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Winona State men's golf team finished the NCAA DII Super Regional in 7th place with
Peyton Coahran advancing to the NCAA Championships.
After finishing the first round in first place as a team, the Warriors fell back to third place in round two and in round three were unable to hold their lead moving back to seventh place behind Ferris State and Arkansas Tech. Winona State finished with a team score of 883 (+19) and rounds of 284 (-4), 292 (+4) and 307 (+19), which put them behind Ferris State and Arkansas Tech who had team cards of 880 (+16). Grand Valley State would take first place at the event with a team score card of 867 (+3).
This would be Winona State men's golfs' highest placement at the NCAA Super Regional since 2007 where they reached sixth place as a team.
Peyton Coahran would be the top WSU golfer, advancing to the NCAA Championships on a playoff win on the 18th hole and becoming one of the top two student athletes on a nonqualifying team. Coahran shot rounds of 68 (-4), 73 (+1), and 74 (+2) to put him in a tied for fourth place spot, individually. Coahran also finished the event tied for second in average score on par threes with 3.07 and would be tied for fifth in total birdies with 13 in the three rounds.
Next up for Winona State were
Javier Ramos Casariego and
Luke Maas. Casariego finished the event with scores of 70 (-2), 69 (-3), and 79 (+7) while also being tied for fifth in average score on par five holes with a 4.33 and total eagles with two in the three rounds of play. Casariego would finish in tied for 17th place and Maas would finish in tied for 50th place.
NSIC individual champion
Max Jericho would hold final score cards of 72 (E), 77 (+5), and 79 (+7) putting him in tied for 69th place overall. Subbing for
Logan Chouinard in the final round would be
Diego Olano. Olano would hold the second-best round three card for Winona State with a 76 (+4) after securing two birdies and 10 pars.
Coahran will now advance to the finals set for May 18-22 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. where he will compete as an individual player. Winona State as a team finishes the 2025-26 season with a NSIC Championship with four team wins and nine top five finishes this season.
