MINOT, ND – Winona State volleyball snuck out a 3-2 victory on the road at Minot State to move to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC.
The Warriors trailed 2-1 after three sets but took control of the match to dominate sets four and five, allowing just 14 total points across the final two sets.
How it Happened:
Winona State struggled early on, having eight attack errors and just eight kills in the opening frame while Minot State hit .262 to take the first set 25-17. The Warriors turned it around drastically in the second set, notching a .419 hitting percentage with 14 kills and just one error. WSU utilized a 6-1 run in the middle of the set to jump out to the lead and tie the match at one apiece.
Minot State controlled the third set, holding WSU to a -0.048 hitting percentage. The Warriors got out to an early lead, but the Beavers controlled the set to win 25-19 and take a 2-1 set lead.
The Warriors were able to take control in each of the final two sets, making just one attack error and holding Minot State to a negative hitting percentage across the fourth and fifth sets. In the final and deciding fifth set, the Beavers grabbed the first point, but WSU went on a 12-0 run to put no doubt in the score on the way to a 15-3 fifth-set win.

Winona State returns home on October 3rd and 4th as they host Wayne State and Augustana.
