KENOSHA, Wis. – Winona State soccer opened the 2025 season with a 2-1 win at UW-Parkside.
The Warriors used a first-half goal by
Kyleigh Jannisch and a game-winner on a PK from
Madelynn Drasher in the 72nd minute to secure the season-opening victory.
How it Happened:
Winona State opened the scoring 11:39 into the game after
Madisson Watts connected with Jannisch to put WSU on the board. UW-Parkside's Carley Nolte tied it up just seven minutes later to even the score at one apiece.
The Warriors tallied six shots compared to UW-P's five in the first half and defended two corner kicks as the teams headed into the break.
WSU kept pressuring the Rangers and finally found the back of the net on a penalty kick from Drasher at the 71:02 mark. The Warrior defense held up in the game's final 19 minutes, holding off two corner kicks and allowing just one shot the rest of the game to clinch the 2-1 victory.
