MANKATO, Minn. – Winona State track and field opened the 2026 portion of their indoor schedule with 20 top five finishes and a trio of event titles at the Bearson/Gathje Classic.
Sasha Steinbach took first place honors in the 60 meters, running a time of 7.74 seconds to defeat the field.
Alyssa Larson ran a 58.69 400-meter race to finish as the only sub-minute runner and win the title.
Kylie Anderson led a strong Warrior field in the 3000 meters, finishing 20 seconds ahead of all runners to win the event with a time of 9:56.24.
Steinbach led WSU in the 200 meters and finished third in 25.76 seconds, while
Karissa Birch ran the race in 25.93 to take fifth.
Caitlyn Casella and
Jenna Anders were fourth and fifth in the 400 meters, in a race where WSU had nine runners finish inside the top 11.
Josie Tieskoetter and
Bailey Sommerville finished second and third in the 600 meters with times of 1:48.13 and 1:50.65.
Yasmin Ruiz-Ruiz took second in the 800 at 2:26.40 and Sam Harke finished third in the 1000 meters at 3:11.59.
Winona State dominated the 3000 meters, sweeping the top three positions and having four in the top 10.
Ella Voit (10:16.83) and
Stella Rusch (10:16.91) came in behind teammate Anderson who won the event, followed by
Kelsey Young (10:19.33) in fifth.
Ella Schueler shined in the long jump and triple jump, finishing in second and third, respectively. Schueler's long jump distance of 5.92m is currently the 11th best in NCAA DII.
Megan Kreul and
Ava Krista took fourth and fifth in the triple jump as well.
Winona State is back in action next weekend as they travel across the river to La Crosse, Wis. for the Pat Healy Classic on Saturday, January 24th.
