Box Score WINONA, Minn. – Winona State tennis opened the spring season with a nail-biting 4-3 victory over St. Cloud State.
The Warriors picked up the doubles point after No. 2 and No. 3 doubles earned wins.
Izabel Barr and
Clara Thoemke grabbed second doubles with a 7-5 victory. In the deciding match for doubles,
Nikita Agrawal and
Debbie Ogdahl secured the team point by going the distance and winning 7-6 (7-1).
The Huskies quickly tied the match score up with a win at No. 5 singles, but Agrawal and
Kate Velander earned wins at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots to give WSU a 3-1 lead. Thoemke delivered the clinching point by wining 7-5 in the first set and sweeping the second set 6-0 to grab the win.
Winona State moves to 2-1 on the season and will be in action next Saturday vs. UW-Eau Claire at the Winona Tennis Center.
