WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University baseball team is set to play a four-game series against the Minot State Beavers starting on Friday, February 27 and concluding on Saturday, February 28.
The Warriors and the Beavers will play a pair of doubleheaders with Friday's action starting at 1:30pm and Saturday's first pitch scheduled for 12:00pm. The second game on Saturday does not count towards NSIC standings. WSU went 4-1 against Minot State in 2025.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors are coming off a 2-1 series win over William Jewell last weekend.
- Winona State enters the 2026 season ranked tenth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing T-ninth in 2025.
- Head Coach Seth Wing heads into his fourth season in the Warrior dugout in 2026 and enters his 14th year overall as an NCAA baseball coach. Wing holds a 69-85 record in his tenure with WSU.
- Easton Arendt racked up six hits, good for a .667 batting average over the weekend. He added three walks and a hit-by-pitch to give him a .769 on-base percentage. He is first in the NSIC in both BA and OBP.
- Klayton Hawkins went four-for-eight (.500) with a home run and five RBIs in the Warriors' opening weekend.
- Mason Beltrand picked up a win on the mound posting 3.0 innings of work while allowing zero earned runs and striking out two batters.
- Nathan Vela pitched four innings against William Jewell recording six strikeouts while allowing one hit and a walk. He posted a WHIP of .50 while allowing zero earned runs.
- Following this week, Winona State heads to the Sunshine State for their Spring Break Trip. The Warriors will play six games starting on Friday, March 6 and concluding on Wednesday, March 11.
Minot State Notes:
- The Beavers are 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC after a series win over SMSU.
- Minot State enters the 2026 season ranked 13th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing 17-32 overall and 11-29 in the NSIC a season ago.
- Head Coach Sam Boisner is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Minot State University program. He has amassed a career record of 65-90 in his tenure with the squad.
- The Beavers have tallied a .321 batting average and .404 on-base percentage so far in the 2026 campaign with Vinnie Gates leading the charge with 13 hits and a .464 batting average.
- The pitching staff holds an 8.80 earned run average while striking out 39 hitters in their seven games in 2026. Colton Bagshaw posts a 3.97 ERA in his two starts on the mound with a 0-1 record.
- Following this week, MISU plays a three-game series against William Jewell starting on Friday, March 6.
