WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University track & field team earned third place at the 2026 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track & Field championships.
Winona State garnered 76 total points, as Minnesota State ran away with the team championship after tallying 216.33 points. UMary finished second with 111 and Minnesota Duluth was right behind WSU with 68.
The Warriors earned points in 12 different events, highlighted by four runner-up finishes and nine top five finishes throughout the championships.
In the sprints,
Sasha Steinbach ran the 60 meters in 7.75 seconds to finish eighth overall. Steinbach also earned a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters at 25.48.
Lexi Urbick followed it up in the 60m hurdles, setting a new school record time of 8.73 to take seventh in the event.
Alyssa Larson and
Karissa Birch finished sixth and seventh in the 400 meters, running times of 57.62 seconds and 58.20 seconds, respectively.
Adalyn Barkley earned runner-up in the 600 meters in her first NSIC Championships final, running the race in 1:37.23.
Jenna Anders ran a 2:18.72 in the 800m to take seventh.
Kylie Anderson and
Stella Rusch led a deep Warrior field In the mile, both setting personal bests as Anderson finished second and Rusch came across the line in fourth. Anderson then ran the 3000 meters in 9:58.26 to tally another runner-up finish with
Ella Voit right behind her in third. Rusch and
Kelsey Young each finished inside the top eight in the 5000 meters.
Ella Schueler notched a third-place finish in the triple jump, flying a distance of 39 feet, 8.5 inches.
Winona State's 4000m DMR and 4x400m relay teams excelled as Voit, Larson, Anders, and Anderson took second in the DMR and the 4x400m team of Birch, Urbick, Barkley, and Larson took third in the race.
This was WSU's best finish at the NSIC Indoor Track & Field championships since 2023.
