WARRIORS BASEBALL LOOKS TO REGROUP WITH NSIC SERIES AGAINST SIOUX FALLS

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State baseball team travels to Ralston, Nebraska to play the University of Sioux Falls for a four-game series starting on Friday, March 13 and concluding on Saturday, March 14.

First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1:30pm with Saturday's action slated for at 12:00pm. The second game of Saturday's doubleheader will not count toward the NSIC standings. WSU dropped all three games with the Cougars in the 2025 season.

Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors (5-8, 1-2 NSIC) are coming off a 1-5 showing down in Florida on their spring break trip.
  • Winona State enters the 2026 season ranked tenth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing tied for ninth in 2025.
  • Head Coach Seth Wing heads into his fourth season in the Warrior dugout in 2026 and enters his 14th year overall as an NCAA baseball coach. Wing holds a 72-92 record in his tenure with WSU.
  • Easton Arendt leads the squad with a .400 batting average (16-of-40) while Adam Wall powers the Warriors with a team-high 13 RBIs and three home runs on the 2026 season.
  • As a team, WSU holds a .251 batting average and a .373 on-base percentage through 13 games.
  • Hunter Guenther (2-1) picked up a dominant win over Davis & Elkins on March 6, 2026, down in Florida. He went 8.1 innings while allowing one unearned run and striking out 10 batters.
  • Sawyer Hoffman (0-1) holds a team-best 2.51 ERA for WSU in 14.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and four earned runs in his three appearances (one start). Hoffman tops the Warriors pitching staff with 21 strikeouts on the year.
  • Following their matchup with the Cougars, Winona State will host its home opener against Bemidji State for a four-game series starting on Saturday, March 21 and concluding the following day on Sunday, March 22.
 
Sioux Falls Notes:
  • The Cougars (5-9, 2-2 NSIC) enter the weekend returning from Florida after a 2-4 showing in the Sunshine State.
  • Sioux Falls enters the 2026 season ranked fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • USF has tallied a .253 team batting average and .362 on-base percentage so far in the 2026 campaign.
  • Dominic Vogel guides the lineup with a .367 BA and a .500 OBP with six stolen bases.
  • The Cougars pitching staff commands a 5.01 ERA allowing opponents to a .275 BA. USF has allowed 122 hits while striking out 122 batters in 111.1 innings of work.
  • Jake Ammann (0-2) spearheads the pitching staff with a 1.00 ERA in 18.0 innings with 27 strikeouts. He has allowed 13 hits and three walks in his three starts on the mound.
  • Following their series with the Warriors, Sioux Falls travels to Northern State for a four-game series starting on Saturday, March 21 and concluding the following day on Sunday, March 22.
