WSU BASEBALL RIDES MOMENTUM INTO FIRST HOME SERIES OF THE 2026 SEASON

WINONA, Minn. – The Warriors baseball team hosts its home opener this weekend on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 against the University of Mary.

First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1:30pm with Sunday's slate starting at 12:00pm at Loughrey Field. The second game of Sunday's doubleheader will not count toward the NSIC standings. The Warriors lost three of four games to the Marauders last season in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors (10-11, 5-4 NSIC) are coming off a 4-0 series sweep versus the Bemidji State Beavers.
  • Winona State enters the 2026 season ranked tenth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing tied for ninth in 2025.
  • Head Coach Seth Wing enters his fourth season in the Warrior dugout in 2026 and enters his 14th year overall as an NCAA baseball coach. Wing holds a 77-95 record in his tenure with WSU.
  • Easton Arendt leads the order with a .375 batting average (24-of-64) and .512 on-base percentage while starting 20 games for WSU.
  • Adam Wall powers the Warriors with a team-high 18 RBIs and four home runs while adding 19 hits on the 2026 season.
  • As a team, WSU holds a .259 batting average and a .373 on-base percentage through 21 games.
  • Nathan Vela (1-2) leads the pitching staff with a 3.86 ERA in 21.0 innings, allowing 22 hits and nine earned runs across five starts. Sawyer Hoffman (2-1) holds a 3.91 ERA and ties Hunter Guenther (2-2) for a team-best 31 strikeouts.
  • The Warriors pitching staff composes a 4.39 ERA with 169 strikeouts in 164.0 innings pitched.
  • Following their matchup with the Marauders, Winona State has a busy week with a doubleheader at Concordia-St. Paul on Tuesday, March 31 and a three-game series with Jamestown starting on Friday, April 3 and ending on Saturday, April 4.
