WINONA STATE CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH UMD ROAD TRIP, NSU SENIOR DAY SHOWDOWN

WINONA, Minn. – The WSU baseball team enters its final week of the regular season, traveling to Minnesota Duluth for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday before hosting Northern State for a three-game series beginning Friday, May 1 at Loughrey Field.

WSU travels to Minnesota Duluth on Wednesday, April 29 with a first pitch of 1:30pm. Then, the squad hosts its regular season finale against the Northern State Wolves, starting on Friday, May 1. First pitch of the series is slated for 1:30pm on Friday with Senior Day festivities taking place. On Saturday, WSU will host Alumni Day with the single game starting at 12:00pm.

WSU swept a doubleheader with the Bulldogs last year at home while also taking all four games against the Wolves in 2025.

Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors (22-22, 17-14 NSIC) are coming off 1-2 series loss at Minnesota Crookston
  • Winona State enters the 2026 season ranked 10th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll and are sixth in the 2026 NSIC standings.
  • Head Coach Seth Wing is in his fourth season in the Warrior dugout in 2026 and his 14th year overall as an NCAA baseball coach. Wing holds an 88-106 record in his tenure with WSU.
  • Dylan Harer is currently riding a 12-game hit streak with a hit in 15 of his last 16 contests. Harer mashed a walk-off three-run home run in the thrilling 7-6 10-inning win over #16 Minnesota State last week.
  • Max Pederson holds a sturdy .320 BA while drawing 32 starts behind the dish.
  • Connor Weed posted eight hits with four extra-base hits in four games last week, including six runs and five RBI over his monster stretch.
  • As a team, WSU has a .269 batting average and a .383 on-base percentage through 44 games.
  • Sawyer Hoffman (4-2) leads the pitching staff with a 4.70 ERA in 51.2 innings, allowing 61 hits and 27 earned runs across 10 appearances.
  • Hunter Guenther (4-2) posts a 4.85 ERA in a team-high 10 starts on the bump.
  • The Warriors pitching staff composes a 5.55 ERA, good for fifth in the NSIC, with 325 strikeouts in 340.2 innings pitched.
Minnesota Duluth Notes:
  • The Bulldogs (16-29, 15-18 NSIC) return to the diamond after winning two of three games against SMSU.
  • UMD comes into the 2026 season ranked sixth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll and currently sits 10th in the 2026 NSIC standings.
  • Minnesota Duluth has tallied a .277 team batting average and .364 on-base percentage so far in the 2026 campaign.
  • Gabe Richardson powers the lineup with a .348 BA, a .435 OBP with 56 hits, 17 doubles, and six long balls.
  • The UMD pitching staff posts a 7.55 ERA, holding opponents to a .309 batting average. The Bulldogs have given up 442 hits while striking out 268 batters in 356.1 innings of work.
  • Henry Wilkinson (4-6) leads the pitching staff with a 3.86 ERA, good for first in the NSIC, in a team-high 47.0 innings, recording 44 strikeouts. Wilkinson has allowed 62 hits and nine walks in 10 starts.

  • The Wolves (12-25, 10-22 NSIC) are coming off a three-game series sweep at the hands of #16 Minnesota State. NSU travels to Wayne State on Tuesday, April 28, before they take on the Warriors.
  • NSU enters the 2026 season ranked 14th in the Preseason Coaches' Poll and are 12th in the current standings.
  • Northern State has tallied a .272 team batting average and .376 on-base percentage so far in the 2026 campaign.
  • Dalton Kesti leads the lineup with a .328 BA, 39 hits, 24 runs, and 10 doubles in 2026.
