WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State tennis team split their matches today against UW-Superior and Coe College.
The Warriors emerged victorious after a 6-1 victory against UW-Superior Yellowjackets, however they dropped the match against the Coe College Kohawks 5-2.
Against the Yellowjackets the Warriors took the doubles point.
Lainy Ristau and
Izabel Barr won at the No. 1 doubles spot 6-1 and the team of
Ally Burger and
Clara Thoemke won at the No. 3 doubles spot 6-3.
Five Warriors won on the singles side. Ristau won at the No. 1 singles spot (6-0, 6-1).
Nikita Agrawal won at the No. 2 singles spot (7-5, 4-6, 10-4). Thoemke won at the No. 3 singles spot (6-1, 6-7, 11-9). Barr won at the No. 5 singles spot (6-1, 6-2).
Kate Velander won at the No. 6 singles spot (6-1, 6-3).
Against the Kohawks the Warriors swept the doubles point. The team of Barr and Ristau won at the No. 1 doubles spot 6-4. The team of Thoemke and Burger won at the No. 2 doubles spot 6-3. The team of Agrawal and
Debbie Ogdahl rounded out the winning slate for the Warriors at the No. 3 doubles spot with a 6-2 victory.
On the singles side, only Ristau emerged with a win, winning at the No. 1 singles spot (6-4, 6-4).
The Warriors will be back in action on the road next weekend against the University of Sioux Falls on Friday, April 10th and Augustana University on Saturday, April 11th.
