BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Winona State Women's golf team was selected sixth in the 2026-27 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Megan Young was selected as the Student-Athlete to Watch for the Warriors.

Winona State accumulated 114 points in the 2026-27 Preseason Coaches' Poll, falling behind Sioux Falls (118), Augustana (121), Concordia-St. Paul (143), Minnesota State (157), and Wayne State (178). Concordia-St. Paul's Addi Wood was voted as the NSIC Preseason Golfer of the Year. Wood is also the reigning NSIC Player and Newcomer of the Year.

The Warriors Women's Golf team is under new leadership of first-year head coach Matias Maquieira. Maquieira brings playing and coaching experience to WSU after finishing his collegiate playing career at Missouri Valley College and then working as an assistant coach at NCAA DII Cameron University for two years. "This team has a great mix of talent and enthusiasm. I am excited to see our players come together, embrace the challenge of competing, and getting better every day. Our focus is on building something special, and I can't wait to get the season started." Coach Maquieira about the team.

Young, a junior from Apple Valley, Minn, ended the 2025-26 season with a stroke average of 79.2 and finished t-12^th in the NSIC. Coach Maquieiraa on Young, "I am excited to coach Megan this season. She has a great opportunity to make an immediate impact, and I am looking forward to seeing her continue to grow and reach her potential. I know she will lead the team and will push them to work hard and play good golf. "

The Warriors will return to the course Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 as they travel to Blue Springs, Mo to compete in the Central Region Preview.
