Winona State women travel North for year-end road trip

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University embarks on a weekend road trip against a pair of NSIC North opponents to close out the 2017 calendar year. The Warriors travel to Minnesota Crookston on Saturday and conclude the trip at Bemidji State on Sunday.

Both games are scheduled to tip at 1:30 p.m.

WSU has won four straight, and has won nine of its first 10 games overall to begin the year for the third straight season.

The Warriors own a +18.8 scoring margin this season and have a +15.5 margin of victory during the current four-game streak.

Hannah McGlone has posted a double-double in five of the last seven games, and leads the NSIC in rebounding (10.7). The senior leads the Warriors and ranks fifth in the league in scoring (15.1 ppg).

Junior Rachel Novotny has assisted McGlone on the glass, totaling 10 rebounds in each of the last two games. She ranks fifth on the team with 8.4 points per contest.

Liz Evenocheck ranks fourth on the team in scoring (8.7 ppg), while Gabie Doud is averaging 8.9 points per game off the bench.

Winona ranks fourth in the NSIC in scoring (72.8 ppg), while the Warrior defense ranks second in the league (54.0 ppg). The defense also leads the conference in rebounding, allowing just 29.7 per game.

WSU leads the league in shooting (48.8%) and ranks second from three-point range (37%).

Scouting Crookston

The Golden Eagles (1-8, 1-4 NSIC) are winless in four attempts at home this season. Crookston ranks near the bottom of the conference in scoring offense (59.2 ppg) and scoring defense (69.9 ppg).

The Golden Eagles are last in the NSIC in three-point shooting, converting at just 24 percent from downtown. Winona will look to expose Crookston's defense that allows opponents to shoot 41 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc.

Isieoma Odor ranks sixth in the NSIC in scoring (14.2 ppg), and Micaela Noga (12.8) ranks 15th. Odor also ranks eighth in rebounding (7.2).

The Golden Eagles have two other players averaging over nine points per contest, but the next closest player is scoring just 3.2 ppg.

Winona State has won three straight, and six of the last seven meetings against Crookston.

Scouting Bemidji

The Beavers (3-6, 2-3 NSIC) are coming off a 76-64 win over Crookston, and host Upper Iowa on Saturday before matching up against the Warriors.

Winona State has won seven straight against Bemidji.

The Beavers are next to last in the NSIC in scoring this season at 59.1 points per game. The Warriors will also look to exploit a Bemidji defense that allows 43.1 rebounds per contest.

Booklyn Bachmann leads the Beavers and ranks ninth in the NSIC in scoring (13.4 ppg). Sierra Senske (9.6 ppg) and Sydney Arrington (9.4) are Bemidji's next leading scorers before a significant drop off after the pair.
