Winona State Women's Track and Field Competes in Mankato

Madison Rizner ties Winona State record in high jump

Mankato, Minn. - Competing in a two-team format for the first time this season, the Winona State indoor track and field team took some top marks competing against the Mavericks of Minnesota State-Mankato.

After a strong season-opening performance last weekend at Bemidji State University, the Warriors were once again on the road at the Mark Schuck Dual and head coach Mason Rebarchek saw Madison Rizner tie the Winona State high jump record mark with a 1.68 meter effort, winning the event. Rizner's mark equaled Hillary Cunningham's record, earned in 2005.

Teammate Kaylee Olson was second with an outstanding high jump effort of her own, hitting a 1.65 meter attempt.  Also in the jumps, Xana Leum took second in the triple jump with a 11.07-meter mark and Ashlie Lockington was third at 11.02-meters.

In the distance events, Winona State swept the top three times in the 5000-meter run, with McKenna Taylor, Alli Hedrickson and Katie Lorenz finishing 1-2-3 for the Warriors.  Taylors' time was 18:41.40, just ahead of Hendrickson at 18:43.82. Lorenz clocked a 19:56.35 to complete the sweep for WSU.

The Warriors efforts worked well in the 1000 meter run, with Kaylee Beyer claiming first place at 3:03.47, Linsday Cunningham second at 3:05.07 and Andrea Fromelt fourth, with a time of 3:23.87.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Xana Leum took second for Winona State and fellow Warrior Michale Pryor was also second in the 60 meter dash. Pryor also captured second place in the 200-meter event.  In the women's 400 meters, Kalley Harris and Lainey Lipschultz were second and fifth, respectively.

Relay action also yielded a first place finish; Winona State won the 4X400 at 3:51.51, with Maddy Pietz, Brooklyn Schyvinck, Kendall Zeman and Kalley Harris hauling home the hardware.

Winona State is now off until Feb. 20 when they return to Minnesota State Mankato for the President Davenport Classic.
