TOPEKA, Kan. - The Winona State University women's basketball team will compete against Northwest Missouri State University this afternoon when they take on the Bearcats in the second game of the Washburn Thanksgiving Classic.
The Warriors (4-0, 1-0 NSIC) will face Northwest Missouri (3-1, 0-0 MIAA) in the last game WSU will play in Kansas as Winona State looks to run their unbeaten string to five games. Head coach

For the second time time in 2021-22, WSU trailed at the half against Washburn University on Friday but came back to win, 56-45.
Winona State & Northwest Missouri have played just once before, a 75-69 Bearcat win on Nov. 18, 2005
At 4-0, the WSU matches the hot start of the 2019-20 Warrior team that won their first seven games of the season that year en route to a 17-11 overall mark.
Overall on the year, Winona State is 25-of-90 from behind the arc.
After an opening game in which they were not awarded a free throw, WSU has earned 30 attempts in their most recent three games.
In their season-low offensive output vs. Washburn on Friday, WSU shot below the .400 mark for the first time this season at .386.
Winona State has forced their opponents into more turnovers then the Warriors have committed in each contest so far this year.
The 15 3-pointers attempted vs. the Ichabods on Friday was the lowest total from three -point land so far this year; however, the Warriors held Washburn to just three makes in 24 shots from behind the arc.
Northwest is 13-1 for head coach Austin Meyer when it wins the rebounding battle. Northwest won the battle of the boards against Minnesota-Crookston, 35-33, and won the game, 53-48.
The Bearcats rank No. 16 in the nation and No. 2 in the MIAA in blocked shots per game. Northwest blocked six shots in its opener vs. Southwest Minnesota State. The Bearcats added five more blocks in their win over Minnesota-Crookston.
Paityn Rau reached double-figure scoring with 14 points in Northwest's 53-48 win over Minnesota-Crookston. It marked the first double-figure scoring game for Rau since she went for 12 points against Emporia State on March 5, 2020.
Redshirt freshman Molly Hartnett leads the Bearcats in scoring through the first weekend of play at 11.5 points per game.
True freshman guard Peyton Kelderman leads the squad with four made three-pointers through the opening two games.
Sophomore Jayna Green entered into Northwest's top-10 all-time shot blockers last season. She registered 29 blocks as a freshman before notching 33 in 2020-21. Green has blocked two shots this season.
The Bearcats are playing in their 50th season as a program. The first women's basketball season was in 1971-72 when head coach Sherri Reeves led the 'Cats to a 9-2 record as MAIAW Champions.
