WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's basketball team will compete in their last NSIC weekend before the holiday break, traveling to Wayne State College on Saturday, Dec. 17 and Augustana University on Sunday, Dec. 18. The Warriors will tip off at 3:30 p.m. against the Wildcats and face the Vikings at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Winona State is 8-3 on the year and will be looking to build on their most recent contest, a 76-61 win over the University of Sioux Falls at home in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court. Wayne State owns a 7-2 regular season mark, stands at 3-2 in NSIC play and are coming off a 98-59 loss to Minnesota State. Sunday's opponent, Augustana, is 8-2 overall and 3-2 in league action. The Vikings will host Upper Iowa on Saturday before taking on the Warriors on Sunday.

- Lauren Fech leads WSU in minutes (32.4/game) and adds 2.4 assists/game.
- Caitlin Riley leads WSU with 27 three pointers made this season and knocking down 47.4% of her triples.
- Dornfeld owns four of the top 25 rebounding single-game performances in the NSIC, pulling in 13 twice and 12 on two different occasions.
- WSU has a 10-10 mark versus Wayne State in their last 20 matchups.
- The Warriors will be looking to snap a four-game skid against the Vikings; WSU last beat Augustana 72-64 in OT on Dec. 6, 2019 in Sioux Falls.
Wayne State College STORYLINES
- The Wilcats enter the weekend with a 5-3 record overall, including a 2-1 mark in the NSIC.
- In 2021-22, WSC and WSU each beat the other side at home. WSC defeated Winona State 87-84 in Wayne while the Warriors downed WSC 74-69 in Winona.
- WSC averages 74.8 points per game and holds a 3.6 scoring margin over their opponents, who score 71.2 points/game.
- Lauren Zacharias leads WSC with 15.6 ppg. Logan Hughes (10.7 ppg), also averages double-figure scoring for the Wildcats.
- Zacharias averages 4.8 rebounds a contest and has notched 15 steals this year.
- WSC is 2-0 at home and 4-2 on the road so far this year.
- Brent Pollari is currently in his fifth season at Wayne State College.
Augustana University STORYLINES
- The Vikings have opened the season with a 8-2 record and are 3-2 in the conference.
- Augustana averages 78.6 points/game and they allow 64.6 points/game to their opponents.
- Four different players average double-digits in points/game for AU: Aislinn Duffy (16.6), Lauren Sees (13.8), Michaela Jewett (12.5) and Jennifer Aadland (10.5).
- Duffy and Aadland lead the Vikings on the glass at 8.7 and 6.9 boards per game, respectively.
- Duffy and Aadland are also impressive from the free throw line, with Aadland hitting 12-of-13 FT's and Duffy delivering 21-of-23 from the charity stripe so far this season.
- Dave Krauth is in his 34th year as the head coach for Augustana.
WARRIOR NOTABLES
- The Warriors were selected 11th overall and 5th in the NSIC South by coaches around the league.
- Head coach Ana Wurtz and assistant coach Hannah McGlone are the only all-female coaching staff in the NSIC that also competed at their alma mater as student-athletes.
- The Warriors' 7-0 start was the best opening stretch of games since the 2015-16 season, where WSU started 13-0.
