BURNSVILLE, Minn. –
Rachel Kelly has earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors after an impressive performance against Upper Iowa on Saturday, March 26.
Kelly helped lead Winona State to a 5-2 conference win over the Peacocks to improve their record to 8-1 in the NSIC. Teaming up with
Rina Niehoff at No. 1 doubles, the pair clinched the team doubles point with a 6-4 win.
In singles play, Kelly defeated Charalampia Grammatikaki (UIU) in a three-set thriller. After dropping the first set 5-7, Kelly went on to win the second set 6-4, and clinched the match with a 10-8 victory in the third-set super tiebreaker.
Kelly has been key for the Warriors all season, holding a 12-4 overall record and is 7-2 in the NSIC. This is the second time in four weeks that Kelly has earned NSIC Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
