ST. PAUL, Minn. - With a place in the postseason secured via doubleheader sweep on Friday, the Winona State University baseball team completes its regular season Saturday, May 7 with a single, nine-inning game at Concordia, St. Paul, starting at noon.
Winona State (15-21, 13-12 NSIC) will look to keep the momentum of recent success going, having won four of their last five contests, including 11-2 and 7-5 wins over the Golden Bears on Friday.
Joshua Hawksford is riding a ten-game hitting streak and Winona State has had several good outings from their pitching rotation over the past 10 days, including wins secured by bullpen staff
Caleb Strack and
Justin Firpo, with Strack shutting down CSP in game one on Friday and Firpo finding his grove in the nightcap. Firpo struck out four of the eight batters he faced, taking the mound in the bottom of the ninth and winning the game in the tenth.
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) baseball postseason picture will be compete with the end of games around the league Saturday. Final participants and pairings will be announced by the league as soon as they are available.
