Winona State soccer hires Jill Leibforth as assistant coach

WINONA, Minn. - Head women's soccer coach Matt Kellogg has announced the hiring Jill Leibforth, a former Loras College student-athlete and assistant coach.

"I'm beyond excited to have Jill join our staff.  Getting to know Jill through the hiring process, it became very clear that she is going to fit in very well with our program and be a tremendous asset and help us achieve our goals," said Kellogg.

Leibforth arrives in Winona following a six-year career as an assistant with the Duhawks, helping the perennial NCAA Division III power in women's soccer. As a part of the Loras staff, Leibforth was named to the American Rivers Conference women's soccer coaching staff of the year on four occasions.  This past fall, Leibforth and Loras put together an impressive 21-1-2 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in the ARC, yielding regional coaching staff of the year honors after the Duhawks advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four.  Liebforth has additional coaching experience as the head girls soccer coach at Wahlert High School, a position she held from 2017 to 2022, earning league coach of the year honors in 2021.

Leiborth played high school soccer at Mother McAuley High School in Chicago and is from Evergreen Park, Illinois. Liebforth was a four-year team member at Loras, earning a bachelors degree as a dual major in marketing and psychology.  In addition to her coaching duties, Leibforth served as a Sport Wellness Advisor at Loras.  She earned her master's degree in counseling psychology at Loras and is currently working towards her doctorate in education in sport and performance psychology.
