WINONA, Minn. - Following another championship performance, Winona State University women's cross country student-athlete
Lindsay Cunningham has earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Athlete of the Week following the second week of the fall season.
In addition, the Winona State team has earned a regional ranking spot in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Central Region poll.
Cunningham earned her NSIC nod by winning the
University of Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix Open, finishing the 6K race with a time of 20:57.9, defeating several NCAA Division I competitors in the process. The Wisconsin Dells, Wis. native finished nearly 90 seconds faster than the next closest competitor. For Cunningham, dating back to 2021, the victory continued a string of winning every regular season event she has entered for WSU. Cunningham also paced Winona State to the team championship, with the Warriors claiming the top three spots to win the event.
Following the team success at the Phoenix Open, Winona State is found in the USTFCCA Central Region ranked No. 7 this week. WSU is one of five NSIC programs in the Region Top 10, a list headed up by Augustana University.
