Warrior Game Day: Football

MINOT, N.D. -The Winona State University football team and new head coach Brian Bergstrom will kickoff the 2022 season on the road at Minot State on Saturday, September 3 at 1pm.

In Minot, the Warriors will feature a new-look offense and experienced defense in their effort to begin the Bergstrom era 1-0.  Additionally, WSU returns key components to their special teams unit, with all three facets of the team pointing to a strong start to the 2022 season.

Isaac Fruechte, the WSU offensive coordinator who was at Northern State in 2021, will lead the Warriors against a Minot State team that his Wolves offense posted 36 points against in last fall. On defense, co-defensive coordinators Brian Curtin and Spencer Erickson will look for their Warriors to loom large over the Beavers, as WSU features a multi-faceted defensive line and line-backing corps that has talent and experience. Pete Menage oversees a special teams unit that returns placekicker Jacob Scott and punter Tristan Root.
