WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University soccer team hosts Minnesota State University in an NSIC showdown on Sunday, Oct. 8 with kickoff at 1 p.m. in Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Winona State (2-5-3, 1-4-2 NSIC) will have upset opportunity on their mind as they take on the nationally-ranked Minnesota State squad (7-1-3, 5-0-2 NSIC), as head coach Jill Leibforth and her team are in search of three points in the NSIC standings. The Mavericks currently sit No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches DII poll.
Most recently, the Warriors had a tough-luck loss to the University of Sioux Falls, falling 2-1 on a pair of late goals. Minnesota State defeated Southwest Minnesota State on Friday in a match moved indoors to the Maverick All-Sports Dome due to weather.

WINONA STATE STORYLINES
Winona State holds a 14-17-1 all-time record from Sep. 7, 1996, to present against the Mavericks.
The Warriors lost 3-1 in their last match-up versus Minnesota State on Oct. 2, 2022. Reanne Weil scored for Winona State in the contest.

Minnesota State has amassed a 7-1-3 overall mark and 5-0-2 record in the NSIC
The Mavericks are on a seven-match unbeaten streak, racking up five wins and two draws over that stretch.
MSU's only loss on the year was a 1-0 defeat to national power Grand Valley State.
Avery Korsching leads the Mavericks with five goals and one assist on the year.
MSU is led in goal by keeper Mackenzie Rath with 11 starts on the year. Rath has conceded just two goal on the year and owns a 7-1-2 overall mark in goal.
