ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Winona State University men's golf team competed in the 2024 Holiday Inn Express Central Regional Preview on Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8 at the St. Joseph Country Club. The Warriors finished the three-round event in sixth place, the highest finishing NSIC team.
The University of Central Oklahoma took home first in the Central Region Preview shooting a 825 (-27) as a team with Bennett Baldwin leading the way shooting a three-round score of 204 (-9). Jeffery Johnston took home the individual championship carding a 201 (-12) for Missouri Western.
Out of the 19-team field WSU men's golf finished in sixth place carding a three-day total of 868, saving their best for the last day carding a 286 as a team. Leading the Warriors was Diego Olano with a 215 (+2) shooting a 72, 72, 71. Olano finished in 17th place overall. Next up for Winona State was Peyton Coahran and Logan Chouinard carding a 217 (+5) and a 218 (+6), good for a 23rd place finish and a 24th place finish. Rounding out the Warriors was Javier Ramos Casariego and Luke Maas shooting a 225 (+12) each, respectively.
The Warriors are next in action at the Sioux Falls Invitational on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15 at The Falls Golf Course in Larchwood, Iowa.
