WSU FACES OFF AGAINST CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL IN FIRST NSIC CONFERENCE GAME

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team is looking to extend their winning streak to five games on Tuesday, November 26th, against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent Concordia-St. Paul. WSU will hit the road to face off against CSP at the Gangelhoff Center at 5:30pm. This game will mark the first of four on the road for the Warriors.
 
In their last contest, Winona State defeated Upper Iowa 82-69, with the help of a dominant scoring performance from Hailey Markworth. She recorded 31 points on 12-17 (70.59%) shooting from the field, along with a three-pointer and going a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
 
Winona State Notes:
  • The 2024 campaign will feature 14 home games and 12 away games, Winona State finished 6-6 at home last season and 6-6 at home in 2022.
  • Currently holding a record of 4-1, WSU is ranked fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
  • The Warriors are ranked ninth in the NSIC in scoring, with an average of 68.2 points per game. WSU is ranked fourth in points allowed, with an average of 64.2 points per game.
  • Olivia Gamoke is ranked sixth in the NSIC in scoring with an average of 17.8 points per game. She is also ranked second in three-point field goals per game, three-point percentage, and third in minutes played with an average of 34.4 per game.
  • Markworth is seventh in the NSIC in field goal percentage with 51.9%. Mattie Schimenz is 14th in free throw percentage with 78.9%.
  • Schimenz and Vivica Bretton are 20th and 21st in the NSIC in assists both with an average of 2.6 a game.
  • Bretton is 16th in the conference in rebounds with an average of 6.4 a game.
Concordia-St. Paul Notes:
  • Currently holding a record of 5-0, Concordia-St. Paul is currently ranked third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
  • Leah Dengerud is leading the team minutes with an average of 30.4 a game. She is also leading the team in steals with an average of 2.2 a game.
  • Leading the team in points is Lydia Haack with an average of 18.6 a game. She is also leading the team in assists with an average of 4.4 a game.
