LAKE CITY, Minn. - The Winona State women's golf team placed fifth out of 11 teams at their home tournament, a two-day tournament held at The Jewel in Lake City, Minn.
The Warriors carded a two-round score of 617 (+49) after scores of 316 and 301 on each day to earn a fifth place finish out of 11 teams. St. Kate's took the championship with a score of 590 (+22).
Kelby Anderson led all Warriors with an impressive two-day total of 151 (+9). Anderson finished the first day with a 73 (+2), then carded a 78 (+7) on day two, good for a tie for an 11th place finish.
Ellie Behring finished just behind her Warrior teammate with a score of 152 (+10). Behring scored a 77 (+6) on day one and a 75 (+4) on day two, finishing in a tie for 13th place.
Next up for the Warriors was Kessa Mara with a 158 (+16) and individual Maeve McDougal with a 157 (+15). Both Warriors finished just outside the top 20, with McDougal tying for 23rd and Mara tying for 26th.
WSU freshman Georgia Volley and Megan Young both finished with a 159 (+17 through both days. Individuals Kaylie Kelchen and Celia Turner finished with a 168 (+26) and 177 (+35) in the event.
Winona State next competes at the Grace Shin Invitational in Edmond, Okla. They will be competing at the Kickingbird Golf Club on Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8.
