WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University football team will gear up to play the University of Sioux Falls on November 1st at 1:00pm in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The NSIC matchup will feature the Cougars who defeated Minot State, 24-17, last week. The Warriors were victors over Concordia-St Paul, 24-14, last week during Homecoming.
Winona State won the most recent matchup against the Cougars 42-35, on October 21st, 2023.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors (4-4, 4-3 NSIC) enter the 2025 season voted to finish ninth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Brian Curtin is in his first year as head coach of the Warriors.
- WSU finished 2-3 on the road last season and 2-4 in 2023.
- Winona State is 7-4 all time against Sioux Falls, including winning the last three matchups with the Cougars.
- Quarterback Jackson Flottmeyer looks to lead the offensive charge this weekend. Flottmeyer is 131-of-232 for 1,449 yards and 14 TD passes on the 2025 campaign.
- Jahmani Muhammad led the ground game in last weeks win over CSP. Muhammad ran wild for 141 yards on 16 attempts, good for 8.8 yards a carry.
- Receivers Nolan Ginskey and Joe Sikma will lead the receiving attack. Both receivers have hauled in 34 passes and four TD apiece. Ginskey has the edge in yards with 445 receiving yards to Sikma's 365 yards.
- The defense will turn to Conner Haggerty to limit the Sioux Falls offensive attack that comes in averaging 30.1 points a game. Haggerty is second in the NSIC with 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
- Blake Schraufnagel is a huge component to the Warriors defense as well. Schraufnagel leads the team with 55 tackles on the year.
- As a team, the Warriors have 54 TFLs and 25 sacks on the 2025 campaign.
- Evan Swanstrom is 3-for-4 on field goals this season.
- Winona State is undefeated when giving up less than 20 points a game.
- Following this week's game, the Warriors continue their road trip with a matchup at the University of Mary on November 8th at 12:00pm.
Sioux Falls Notes:
- The Cougars (5-3, 4-3 NSIC) enter the 2025 season voted to finish 5th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Sioux Falls enters the weekend after a 24-17 victory at Minot State in last week's contest.
- The Cougars are sixth in the NSIC in points per game (30.1) and points allowed per game (25.5).
- Camden Dean leads a deep quarterback room with 1,313 yards with nine touchdown passes and five picks on the 2025 season.
- On the ground, the Cougars Bubba Tann III is set to lead the backfield. Tann III has amassed 685 yards on 138 carries this season with six rushing TDs.
- Hank Brown Jr. is the receiver to watch this Saturday. Brown Jr. has hauled in 61 passes for 707 yards and one score on the campaign.
- Defensively, Garret Hoffman is the leading tackler for USF with 36 tackles including two TFLs and two INTs.
- Mouhamad Diawara has 5.5 TFLs and 4.5 sacks this season for the Cougars.
