PEYTON COAHRAN VOTED NSIC PRESEASON MEN'S GOLF ATHLETE OF THE YEAR; WARRIORS SELECTED FIRST

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Winona State Men's Golf team was selected first in the 2025 NSIC Men's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll. Peyton Coahran was named Preseason Golfer to Watch for the Warriors.

WSU garnered 71 points in the 2025 NSIC Men's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll, locking them in front of Concordia-St. Paul in second place (69 points).

Winona State earned four top-three finishes in the 2024-25 season, including second at the NSIC Conference Tournament and first at their home tournament at the Jewel in Lake City, Minn. Entering his eleventh season with the Warriors, head coach Jeff Straight noted, "The Warriors return all 11 roster players from last season, the team qualified for the NCAA Super Regionals and finished 2nd in the NSIC Tournament last. We had 8 of our 11 players make the starting lineup last season. Our Warriors have had a great summer playing well in tournaments and qualifiers. There will be an incredible amount of competition for a top 5 spot this season. Go Warriors!"

Coahran, a senior from Spicer, Minn., finished t-14th in the NSIC Championships last season and had a stroke average of 71.9 to earn All-NSIC First Team honors.

Coach Straight on Coahran, "Peyton has started every tournament his entire college career. He is the hardest worker on the team and sets a wonderful example as a team captain. He finished last season with three wins, ranked 13th in the Central Region and led the NSIC in Scoring average last season. Peyton is also great in the classroom with a 3.8 GPA with a major in composite engineering. He has been an absolute pleasure to coach and has had a great summer, most notably making it to the final stage of qualifying for the U.S. Open."

Winona State returns to the links on Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17, as the Warriors travel to The Maverick Invitational at the Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wis.
