WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team will host the 11th seeded Minot State Beavers in the first round of the NSIC tournament.
The Warriors (16-12, 13-9 NSIC) finished the regular season sixth in the NSIC and will host the No. 11 seed Minot State on Wednesday, February 25th at 6:00pm in McCown Gymnasium. Winona State and Minot State squared off just a few weeks ago on January 31st as WSU earned the 74-64 victory.
The theme for the night will be "White Out" and the first 200 Winona State University students are
FREE, courtesy of the President's Office. Tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for students.
WSU is excited to announce all ticketing will be fully digital this year. All fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online before arriving at the venue.
Cash will not be accepted at the gate.
Winona State Notes:
- After finishing the last 2025-26 regular season game, the Warriors have a 16-12 overall record and a 13-9 conference record.
- Winona State is averaging 69.7 points per game while giving up 67.4 points per game and shooting 43.6% from the field.
- WSU is shooting 32.3% from three-point land and is making 7.1 three-point shots per game. The Warriors are also shooting 74.5% from the charity stripe.
- Hailey Markworth leads the team in points per game (15.9), rebounds per game (6.3) and steals per game (1.2).
- Vivica Bretton is the leader in assists for the Warriors with a total of 94 this season.
- Sadie Jarmolowicz leads the Warriors in three pointers made with 61 while shooting 39.6% from behind the arc.
- Jarmolowicz and Markworth average 34.6 minutes per game and 32.9 respectively, leading the Warriors.
- Megan Schuman adds an average of 6.0 rebounds per team while also being a competitive scorer with 11.4 points per game.
Minot State Notes:
- Minot State has a record of 11-18 and 8-14 in the NSIC. They finished their regular season with a loss on Senior night to Northern State, 72-63.
- Sophomore guard, Taryn Hamling leads the Beavers in points per game with 16.4 and is shooting .432 from the field.
- Junior guard, Maya Aguilar leads MISU in rebounds per game with 5.3 and is shooting .377 from beyond the arc.
- As a team, MISU scores an average of 69.4 points per game and allows opponents to score 71.4.
The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals on Sunday, March 1st at 1:30pm in Sioux Falls, held at the Sanford Pentagon.
