Lindsay Cunningham picked up in 2022 where she left off in 2021, taking top honors in the 2022 Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix Open on Friday, Sept. 9, helping to lead the Winona State University women's cross country squad to the team championship in the process.

McKenna Taylor finished first, second and third, respectively in a field that included competitors from NCAA Division I programs University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Marquette University and host UW-GB. With the top-three sweep, as well as a top-10 finish by
Sophia Taarud (8th, 23:46), Winona State topped the team standings with 25 points, finishing well ahead of second-place UW-Milwaukee at 39. Cunningham's championship time of 20:57.9 was comfortably ahead of Beyer (22:18.2) and Taylor (22:33.1). Cailin Kinas of UW-Milwaukee was fourth at 23:12.3.
The opening day championship marks the second-consecutive
Lindsay Cunningham win to start the fall campaign under third-year coach,
John Hibshman. Last year, the Winona State women's team took second at the Vic Godrey Open hosted by the University of Wisconsin Parkside. WSU is scheduled next to compete on Sept. 23 at the prestigious Roy Griak Open hosted by the University of Minnesota.
