Warrior Women's Basketball to Finish Season in Fayette

WSU looks to close campaign with a strong team effort

Winona, Minn. -- The Winona State University women's basketball team will play Upper Iowa in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19-20, wrapping up the regular season for both programs.

In their last outing, Winona State (3-7 overall / 3-6 NSIC) picked up an amazing comeback win against Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, where head coach Scott Ballard's squad outscored CSP 28-8 in the fourth quarter and won on a last-second Emma Fee bucket. The heroics salvaged a split for WSU and marks the third-straight .500 weekend for the Warriors.

Taylor Hustad has continued her strong season in St. Paul, averaging double-digits in scoring and averaging 5.5 rebounds across the two contests. Winona State's Caitlin Riley scored ten points in the Warrior win on Saturday, while Emily Kieck turned in a 11 point and four-assist outing as well.

For Upper Iowa (1-13 overall / 0-12 NSIC), the series represents the final home games of the season.  UIU opened the 2020-21 season with a 75-71 OT win at St. Cloud State but have not found success since then. The Peacocks roster features several freshman and sophomores, with 13 players in their first or second seasons of NCAA competition.

Read on for the tale of the tape between the Peacocks and Warriors, who will face off in the Dorman Memorial Gymnasium, in Fayette, Iowa. on Friday and Saturday, Feb.19-20.
