MANKATO, Minn. - The Winona State University track and field team wrapped up a two-day stint at Minnesota State on Saturday, Feb. 11, setting multiple new Warrior marks in Myers Field House in Mankato.
On Friday, Feb. 10,
Lindsay Cunningham and
Rachel Hoffman both earned individual championships, racing away from the field in the 3000 meters and mile run, respectively.
Cunningham cruised to a time of 9:16.53 in the women's 3000-meters, setting a new facility and Winona State track and field record in the process. Cunningham beat Fiona Smith of the College of St. Benedict who was second with a time of 9:28.14 and improved on her previous WSU-best of 9:35.38. Cunningham currently owns the top 3000 meter time in the NCAA Division II ranks.
Hoffman won the mile run with a time of 5:26.64, and led a trio of WSU runners to claim the top three spots in the event. Hoffman just edged Warrior teammate and runner-up
Kylie Anderson (5:26.71) while WSU's
Madeline Palmer took third at 5:38.52.
Also on Friday, the Winona State women's distance medley relay team of
Sophia Taarud,
Lainey Lipschultz,
Regan Feit and
Kaylee Beyer earned runner-up honors, finishing the event with a time of 12:00.62. Host Minnesota State won the event with a time of 11:47.92.
Brooklyn Schyvinck earned a third place finish in the women's 200-meters with a time of 24.98 and
Mari Mohling was the highest-finishing field event Warrior, taking 15th in the women's high jump with a 1.57m (16'-11.50") effort. Overall, Winona State earned 55 points as a team to place second, edging out Cal Poly Pomona with 54. The host Mavericks won Friday's competition with 184 points overall.
On Saturday, Winona State picked up where they left off the night before, as the Warrior 4X400 relay team took the event championship with a time of 3:44.02. The time turned in by

Alyssa Larson,
Brooklyn Schyvinck and
Shereen Vallabouy was a Myers Field House facility record and the second-fastest 4X400 mark in Warrior history.
Kaylee Beyer added to the record-setting day for Winona State with a championship effort in the women's 800-meter run, turning in a 2:12.75 mark, also a best-ever Warrior time and erasing her previous WSU record of 2:13.54. Beyer beat Minnesota State's MaKenna Thurston who finished second with a time of 2:14.37.
McKenna Taylor took third for WSU in the women's 5000 meters, running the race in 17:42.79. Taylor's time was the fourth-fastest ever recorded by Winona State athlete in the event.
Winona State will compete in a final regular-season competition on Friday, Feb. 17 at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Championships are set for February 24-25 in Mankato, Minn.
