AZUSA, Calif. - The Winona State University track and field team traveled to the west coast to compete in a pair of competitions in Azusa, California, as Warriors lined up in the 63rd annual Mt. Sac Relays at Mt. San Antonio College and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Lindsay Cunningham set a new Winona State all-time best mark in the 10K run, turning in a time of 32:43.64, which was also the third-fastest time ever in the in NCAA Division II ranks. Cunningham finished second overall in the Elite Division of the race and was the fastest collegiate runner.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, WSU's
Kaylee Beyer set a new Winona State record in the 800-meters, running a time of 2:09.72. Beyer's mark was over two seconds faster than her previous Warrior best. Beyer also ran the women's 1,500 meters, completing the race with a time of 4:24.34.
Ashlie Lockington turned in a 5.37m (17'7 1/2") mark in the women's long jump at the Bryan Clay, and four Warriors competed in the women's triple jump.
Hanna Reichenberger was the top WSU performer in the triple jump, turning in an effort of 11.77m (38' 7 1/2") good for a top-25 finish among several NCAA Division I competitors.
Xana Leum leaped to a distance of 11.40m (37' 4"), cracking the top-50 in the event. Lockington hit a mark of 11.11m (36' 71/2") while
Daria Tersina reached 10.82m (35' 6") in her best effort.
In the 100 meter hurdles at the Bryan Clay, Reichenberger had a time of 14.90 and Leum came in at 15.05. The 400 meter hurdles saw
Brooklyn Schyvinck hit a time of 100.50 - good for 11th overall - while
Regan Feit had a time of 1:05.30.
Next up for the Winona State track and field team is the Running On Hope Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Wednesday, April 26.
