Winona State track & field hauls in All-America honors

NEW ORLEANS – All-America honors for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Included among the honorees were several Winona State University student-athletes.

Shereen Vallabouy, Lindsay Cunningham, Kaylee Beyer, Regan Feit, Alyssa Larson, and Brooklyn Schyvinck each were named to the First Team in their respective events, following outstanding performances at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

At the meet, Vallabouy became the NCAA Division II Outdoor 400-meter champion, pulling away from a field comprised of the nation's best in the event.

Winning the race with a time of 52.74, the Ipoh, Malaysia standout became a three-time national champion, having also won the NCAA Division II Indoor 400-meter championship for the second year in a row. Vallabouy is the first Winona State student-athlete to win the NCAA 400-meter outdoor crown.

Vallabouy owns three Winona State 400-meter records, sitting number one all-time in the outdoor 400 meters (52.68), indoor 400 meters (53.37), and is the top 200-meter runner ever at Winona State with a time of 23.52.

Lindsay Cunningham finished in first place in the 5000-meter race with a time of 16:23.08. She also finished first in the 10000-meter race with a time of 33:55.79. The Wisconsin Dells, Wis. product earned All-America honors at the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, in addition to her strong outing at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

Kaylee Beyer placed fifth in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:38.85 at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. Beyer, a junior from Mukwonago, Wis., holds the WSU 800 meter record at 2:11.82 as well as the Winona State indoor record in the indoor 1,000 meters at 2:54.73 and second-best ever indoor mile mark at 4:56.96.  Beyer is also fourth all-time in the WSU indoor 800 meters with a time of 2:16.16.

Regan Feit, Alyssa Larson, Brooklyn Schyvinck, and Shereen Vallabouy placed fifth in the 4x400 race with a time of 3:38.62.

Student-athletes earned First-Team USTFCCCA All-American honors by virtue of finishing among the top-eight in their respective events – including as a member of a relay team – at the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Pueblo, Colorado.

Second-team selections were given to those athletes who finished in spots Nos. 9-12 in individual events. Ninth and tenth-place relay teams also earned the distinction.
