Winona State volleyball ranked No. 9 in final AVCA poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Winona State University volleyball team ends their season ranked No. 9 in the 2021 final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Poll.

The Warriors began the season receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Preseason Poll but were unranked. WSU made their first appearance as a ranked team in the Week One Poll where they were ranked No. 14 after a 4-0 performance at the Ferris State Invite.

Throughout the rest of the season, Winona State remained in the top-15, which included nine weeks ranked inside the top-10. The highest-ranking for the Warriors was at No. 8, where they spent four weeks at that spot during the campaign.

In the history of the AVCA Coaches Poll, WSU volleyball has been ranked in the top-25 for a total of 63 weeks, all under Joe Getzin's tenure at the helm. The 2021 AVCA Coaches Final Poll marks the second-highest year-end ranking Winona State has ever received, second to 2016 when they ended the season ranked No. 4.

The Warriors ended their season with a record of 28-5 and set a program-record .848 winning percentage. WSU's 17-3 NSIC record was the most conference wins in a single season in the history of the program.
