There are superlatives to describe David Ludy’s football career at WSU; at the top of the list are “thrilling, exciting.” No player left fans on the edge of their seats more than David Ludy when he carried the football or brought back a kickoff.

During his four year career at WSU, Ludy brought fans to their feet on more than one occasions than can be stated, but it was kickoff returns that really set the fan fever, as Ludy returned 8 kickoffs during his career for touchdowns, a record which still leads all divisions in the NCAA.
Ludy wore down the pencils of a number of statistics takers during his career, ruching for 3,544 yards returning kickoffs for 2,812 yards and totaling an impressive 7,317 all purpose yards. He also had a special knack for finding the end-zone as he finished his WSU career with 39 rushing, 2 receiving and those 8 kickoff returns for a career total of 53 touchdowns. Those numbers helped Ludy reach 321 career points which still leads all WSU scorers.

With his performance on the field, Ludy helped pile up the postseason awards and lead the Warrioirs to conference championships in 1993-1994 and in 1993 placed the Warriors into WSU’s first ever playoff game.

Today, Ludy is an elementary school principal who works closely with the Foster grandparent and Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs in the Stanley-Boyd Wisconsin area. Ludy and his wife have two children.
