Pat Neder was a standout two-sport athlete in basketball and softball at Winona State University. Following graduation she went on to play for United States national teams in both handball and rugby.

 

On the basketball court, Neder was a four-time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and All-NAIA District 13 selection. Getting her career off to a hot start, Neder was second in the NSIC in scoring as a freshman, and two seasons later she led the league with her 20.1 points per game average. As a senior, Neder topped the conference in assists and still holds the NSIC single game record with 22 assists, set in 1988. Over her career, Neder scored 1,801 points, dished out 744 assists and had 266 steals.

 

Neder was just as dominating on the softball diamond. A three-time All-NSIC and All-NAIA player, and she won honorable mention All-America recognition in 1990. As a senior, Neder led the NSIC in runs (16), triples (3) and stolen bases (6).

 

After completing her career at WSU, Neder played on the U.S.A. Handball Team from 1990-99. She competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games, and was a member of the 1995 and 1999 Pan American Games teams. In 1993 she was named Handball Athlete of the Year.

 

A native of Waukesha, Wis., Neder is currently a middle school teacher in Smyrna, Ga. She remains active in sports as a member of the U.S.A. Rugby Team. She competed in the Canada Cup in 2004 and the World Cup in 2005 and is scheduled to play in the 2006 World Championships.
